Open

There are mandatory on-campus Institutes during the first two years of the program, corresponding with required courses. These Institutes will take place during Fall 1 (Institute 1), Summer 1 (Institute 2), and Summer 2 (Institute 3) terms. Each Institute lasts five days and will be held at the USF Tampa campus in the College of Public Health.

Students are also required to complete pre- and post-institute coursework. Institute dates are announced via email six months in advance. The Fall Institute typically occurs during the second week of September, while the Summer Institutes are usually scheduled for early June.

Students unable to attend an Institute as scheduled must postpone those courses to the following year.

Students are responsible for their travel arrangements for each Institute, to include lodging, transportation, and food. The area around campus offers a variety of options. 

Parking

In order to park on campus, you must have a parking permit. To purchase this permit, get additional information on parking, or to see the campus map for directions, go to the Parking and Transportation website at: http://www.usf.edu/administrative-services/parking/. You can buy a daily pass at the Visitor's Center or purchase a pass and utilize pay spaces (there is machine to buy the passes in the COPH parking lot).

The Winn Dixie shopping center on Fowler has 8-10 restaurants with all types of food. Examples: Jason’s Deli, Chili’s, Taj’s Indian, Tijuana Flats, So Fresh, First Watch, etc.

Many of the hotels listed below offer a special USF rate. If you choose one of these hotels, state that you are visiting the University of South Florida. Some offer free shuttle service to the campus.
