Important Catalog Information for Summer 2020 Matriculants
Due to the planned consolidation during the summer of 2020, of the University of South Florida, the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, and the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, into a single university with a fully aligned and integrated curriculum and a single set of academic policies and procedures, any undergraduate or graduate student who matriculates at one of the three USF institutions on or after May 18, 2020, will adhere to the curricula, policies, and procedures described in the 2020-21 USF undergraduate or graduate catalog, respectively.
Concentration: Occupational Exposure Science (Code: OES)

According to the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the field of Occupational Exposure Science (also known as Industrial Hygiene) is devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, control and prevention of environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace which may cause sickness, impaired health and well-being or significant discomfort among workers or citizens of the community.
If you pursue a career in Occupational Exposure Science (OES), you will be called upon to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control hazards – chemical, physical, biological or psychological. For example, you may need to assess the exposures of workers to any of the 80,000+ chemical in use, you might have to manage the after-effects of a fire at a manufacturing plant, you could be hired to consult with a company on how to control noise levels, or you may be involved in the prevention and management of mold in the a school, hospital, or workplace.
Accreditation: Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of College and Schools. The College is fully accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health. This OES concentration in the MSPH degree practices a Continuous Improvement Program in accordance with our NIOSH Sunshine ERC Grant requirements, the College CEPH accreditation, and the University SACS accreditation.
