Lisa DeSafey Jaap Award

COPH will be providing one $500 award for a College of Public Health (COPH) graduate student, either in a COPH masters or doctoral program.

Eligible students must be enrolled full or part time in a degree program during Spring 2023 semester.

This award focuses on how one, through research, practice, and/or coursework in the COPH, plans to build leadership, communication, empathy, and interaction skills among health professionals so that the priority populations served receive a better and more fruitful experience with the healthcare system. Key to this award is the ability to build empathy and communication skills so that the population served feels respect, support and encouragement. 

This award is taxable. The recipient will need to complete a W-9 in advance of disbursement. This award will be paid via check to the awardee, rather than credited to the student’s financial aid account.
